Help Protect Children at Your Local Kansas Library

Recently, as the Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Kansas local Topeka Prayer/Action Chapter Leader and State Director, I testified before the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library Board regarding sexually explicit books readily accessible in the library’s children’s area.

During my testimony, I shared the titles of several books that were quickly and easily found in the library. I described their explicit content and even marked pages for board members who wished to review the material for themselves. While the board listened respectfully, there was little response to the serious concerns that were presented.

This issue is too important to ignore.

I plan to continue speaking at future library board meetings, bringing additional examples of inappropriate books and inviting members of my Chapter and like-minded friends to stand with me. Both mothers and grandmothers are encouraged to join us to demonstrate that families are deeply concerned about the materials being made available to children in our public libraries.

Take Action

Would you be willing to look into your own local library?

  • Visit your public library and browse the children’s and teen sections.
  • Look at featured displays and books that are easily accessible to minors.
  • If you discover sexually explicit or age-inappropriate materials, respectfully speak with library staff or attend a library board meeting to voice your concerns.
  • Encourage others in your church, family, and community to become informed and involved.
  • Consider starting a CWA Prayer/Action Chapter in your community to stand for biblical values and help protect children. Contact me to learn how easy it is to get started.

Meaningful change often begins with one person who is willing to speak up.

Please Pray

Please join me in praying:

  • That the hearts of library board members and administrators would be softened and that they would choose to protect children.
  • That sexually explicit materials would be removed from children’s areas and kept out of the hands of minors.
  • That parents and grandparents would have wisdom, courage, and grace as they advocate for children.
  • That God would raise up more believers who are willing to stand for truth in their local communities.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” — Proverbs 31:8
