Dear Father God,

These are definitely the times that try man’s soul, but when we have You to turn to, it makes it so much easier to live day by day without fear and with the peace that passes all understanding. Father, we lift up to You in prayer everyone in this country who does not have that peace, that their hearts might be open to all that you have for them. May they come to realize just how much You love them and that You even died for them, just so that they could receive the gift of eternal life.

We also lift up to You in prayer all our newly elected legislators; we pray that they will realize they are in their position for a purpose that goes beyond what they could ever imagine, and that they will rely upon You for guidance and strength and wisdom as they serve the constituents who elected them to office.

There are so many troublesome things happening around the world right now that it is sometimes difficult to see beyond the moment. Father, help us to not look at our circumstances but instead to look beyond them and to understand that everything has a purpose and also that You will work all things for good for those who love You and who are called according to Your purpose. Father God, You have promised us that You are always with us; You give us courage to handle all the adversities that come against us; may we remember to rely upon You and not upon ourselves. You are our Rock and our Shield, and we must learn to trust you in all circumstances both good and bad.

We also lift up to You in prayer all the Christians around the world who are being persecuted simply because they refuse to deny You and they refuse to turn away from You. Father, we know that one day You will be returning for Your people and that one day there will be no more sorrow, no more tears and instead we will spend all eternity in Your presence. Father, please be with those who are not strong enough to handle the things of this world, a world that has so much evil and darkness in it; please give them the strength to endure until Your return; let Your light shine like a beacon in the darkness so that evil will have to flee.

Amen!
