Encourage-A-Legislator Program
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-2
The Call to Prayer
1 Timothy 2:1-2 instructs us to pray for our leaders. Concerned Women for America’s (CWA) Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) program provides a simple and meaningful way to do just that. This ministry builds bridges of encouragement – not only with those with whom we typically agree but also with those whom we may not.
Whether a legislator is a believer or non-believer, conservative or liberal, Democrat, Republican, Independent, or other, one thing is certain: they all need prayer and encouragement. And that is where you come into the picture!
The Goal
Through faithful prayer and uplifting postcards, we want to bless every member of the State House and Senate by:
- Praying daily for them and their families.
- Sending encouraging handwritten postcards throughout the legislative session.
The EAL program is not used to lobby and is not confrontational. It is a great way to uplift those in authority and encourage them in their responsibilities.
The Commitment
CWA will provide you with:
- The name and mailing address of your assigned legislator(s).
- A packet of postcards to send.
Your part is to:
- Commit to pray daily for your assigned legislator(s) during the session.
- Mail one EAL postcard each month until the session concludes.
The Pennsylvania Legislature
The Pennsylvania Legislature will be in session from January 6 through November 30, consisting of 203 House members and 50 Senate members.
Answer the Call
Sign up today to be an encourager—it is simple!
Contact CWA of Pennsylvania’s Encourage-A-Legislator Coordinator Irene Harris at (570) 850-5975 or by email at [email protected]. Please include your name, mailing address, and the number of legislators you would like to encourage. You will receive a packet of postcards and instructions in the last week of December.
Spread the Word!
Please invite your friends and family to sign up, too! Consider making this a family project by involving your children—it is a wonderful way to teach them the importance of praying for those in authority.
