Will you help protect life? Micah’s Law/Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, H.R. 36, has passed in the U.S. House of Representatives and now will be considered in the U.S. Senate. Our North Dakota senators need to hear from us!
One of the co-sponsors, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), testified, “At five month gestational age, babies have 10 fingers and 10 toes, they can yawn, stretch, make faces – and they can feel pain. It’s unconscionable that the United States is currently one of only 7 countries in the world that allows abortions after five months; we are currently in the same company of China and North Korea. I’m fighting for this legislation in honor of my friend and fellow Iowan, Micah Pickering, an incredible 5-year-old who was born prematurely, at five months gestation. This legislation could protect up to 10,000 lives like Micah’s every year by preventing abortions after about 5 months of development, and it is absolutely critical that the Senate take up this legislation to protect our most vulnerable.”

CWA of North Dakota implores Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota) to vote in favor of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. By doing so, she would be representing her constituents, rather than her campaign donor and abortion giant, Planned Parenthood.
In the past, Sen. Heitkamp has refused to distance herself from the eugenics founded group, Planned Parenthood. In August of 2015, we reported how Sen. Heitkamp had an opportunity to vote YES on a bill that would have defunded Planned Parenthood. However, she chose to vote NO despite the overwhelming evidence that Planned Parenthood is in the business of selling baby parts across the country. Sen. Heitkamp has continued to remain silent despite the evil exposed by videos revealing the horrific practices of Planned Parenthood.
Sen. Heitkamp’s close relationship with Planned Parenthood was proven again in July of 2017, when she once again failed to vote in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood!
Sen. Heitkamp should consider that support for limiting abortions after five months is high among voters in Trump-carried states that are represented by vulnerable Democratic senators who are facing re-election in 2018. These senators are Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin), Jon Tester (D-Montana), Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri), Bill Nelson (D-Florida), and Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota).
Another important reason for Sen. Heitkamp to sign H.R. 36 is that on May 2, 2013, the North Dakota Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act became a law in our state! This law bans abortion at 20 weeks post-fertilization, except in cases of medical emergency. The purpose is “to protect unborn human life and maternal health within present constitutional limits. It reaffirms the tradition of the state of North Dakota to protect every human life whether unborn or aged, healthy or sick.”

Please pray for the passage of this bill! President Donald Trump has promised to sign pro-life legislation. Pray that this bill is passed by the U.S. Senate so that he is given the opportunity to sign it!
