CWALAC Opposes ACA Subsidies That Exclude Hyde Amendment Protections

WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) is calling on members of the U.S. House to reject expanding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies that do not include the Hyde Amendment protections.

“We cannot be flexible on Hyde Amendment protections for the unborn. It has always been a clear bipartisan agreement that the government should not force taxpayer funding for abortions. CWALAC will score against votes for H.Res.780, which provides consideration for H.R. 1834,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America LAC.”

“Since its passage in 2010, the ACA has robbed American taxpayers by using their hard-earned wages against them. The authors of Obamacare intentionally excluded the historic, widely agreeable Hyde Amendment from the program, forcing taxpayer coverage of abortions. The Biden-era expansions further exacerbated taxpayer entanglement with the abortion industry by increasing subsidies for plans that cover abortion, continuing to march against the will of the people under the guise of COVID relief.

“Over 60 percent of American taxpayers find the use of their tax dollars towards abortions morally objectionable. That is why the Hyde Amendment has received bipartisan support for 50 years. Extending the subsidies without these productions would further violate the conscience of the American people, forcing taxpayers to cover procedures that many, including our members at CWALAC, find egregious and unacceptable,” said Nance.
