Concerned Women for America of North Dakota Urges Gov. Burgum to Sign Laws Protecting Female Athletes

Bismarck, North Dakota – Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Dakota applauds the North Dakota legislature for passing pro-women legislation protecting female-born athletes from losing hard-fought opportunities, which came through the feminist movement in the implementation of Title IX.

We urge Gov. Doug Burgum to sign the bills to show his support for fair competition and equality in girls’ sports for all female athletes participating in girls’ and women’s sports teams in our state. Our state lawmakers understand biological females who train and work hard to excel in their chosen sport, strive for college scholarships, and compete on a fair playing field should not suffer the loss of those opportunities because a biological male who claims transgender status as a woman receives her spot.

CWA of North Dakota State Director Linda Thorson has this to say: “Female athletics are a pathway to development, opportunity, and success for girls and women in America. Male athletes should not be competing in women’s sports, regardless of how they identify. This will happen should the Governor not sign the bills.”
