David Smith, Executive Director of Illinois Family Institute, kicked off the CWA of Illinois “Issues in Focus” series. Attendees dined on Irish stew and chowder, Irish soda bread, fresh fruit, and assorted bar cookies at the March 17, 2015, St. Patrick’s Day gathering.
Smith listed Biblical Scriptures that mandate Christians’ involvement in the political process. Christians are to be salt and light to the world. He gave updates on pending legislation in Springfield that impacts traditional family values and urged attendees to contact their legislators.
“We are pleased with the turnout for the first CWA of Illinois ‘Issues in Focus’ briefing,” says State Director Debbie Leininger. “When Christians rise to the occasion, there will be a change in the status quo in Springfield. That is what CWA is all about – prayer, education, and action!”
