Concerned Women for America of North Dakota Rejoices!

Bismarck, North Dakota –

The State Supreme Court has upheld North Dakota’s abortion ban as constitutional, making abortion again illegal in our state.

Linda Thorson, State Director of Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Dakota, on behalf of Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, issued the following statement regarding the enforcement of North Dakota laws regulating abortion:

“We rejoice! Our fight to protect pro-life laws in our Century Code has been won. The North Dakota Supreme Court justices failed to achieve the supermajority required to overturn our state abortion ban. We applaud Attorney General Drew Wrigley for taking steps to defend our laws, which create a sanctuary of life in the state. North Dakota citizens desire to see justice and the right to life granted to all our children by welcoming and protecting the unborn. Our State Constitution states, ‘All individuals are by nature equally free and independent and have certain inalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty.’

“We are not so naïve as to think that no more abortions will occur in North Dakota. After 50 years of a culture of death, we still have hearts and minds to change. We must continue to lovingly support and encourage women in their pregnancies. Life is precious and worthy of respect from the moment of conception till natural death. We must recognize that we are created in the image of God.”
