KANSAS – the First Legislative Body in the Country to Officially Condemn New York’s Off the Wall Abortion Law!

By | Kansas | No Comments

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” – Sen. Mary Pilcher-Cook (R-District 10) on the Senate floor quoting Martin Luther King, Jr.

The news across the country lately has shocked many. Ideas that have been and should be unthinkable, like infanticide, have been discussed as normal.

The good news is that last week the Kansas Senate became the first legislative body in the country to officially condemn New York’s off the wall abortion law. Kansas is a state that cherishes life, and we are appalled that any state in the United States would believe that New York’s law is acceptable – much less something to celebrate as many of us saw in the videos. This was a monumental day for the state of Kansas as we lead the discussion in the nation on the value of human life!

You can read SCR 1606 here.

A press conference was held on Monday, February 11. Pictured here are pro-life legislators standing behind Sen. Mary Pilcher-Cook as she presented the resolution.

We are extremely grateful for the leadership of Sens. Mary Pilcher-Cook, Ty Masterson (R-District 16), Caryn Tyson (R-District 12), Julia Lynn (R-District 9) and Senate President Susan Wagle (R-District 30) in standing strong for life.

Please take action: Email the senators listed above with a thank you. You can find their email addresses here.

Now the resolution heads to the House of Representatives, where Susan Humphries (R-District 99), will lead the discussion. As many of you know, Rep. Humphries is an excellent advocate for life.

Please take action: Email Rep. Humphries and encourage her in the work she has before her.

Pray for easy passage of the resolution in the House.

Thank you and God bless,

Attention Prayer Warriors: Kansas has a SOGI Bill!

By | Kansas | No Comments

On Monday, February 4, the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) bill was introduced, given the number HB 2130 and assigned to the House Federal and State affairs.  Click here to read the bill in its entirety.

HB 2130 creates discrimination.  When “sexual orientation” or “gender identity” is added to a legal or corporate nondiscrimination code, it opens the door to policies that discriminate against people with traditional views as it attacks and opposes the notion that sexual behavior has moral dimensions.

The strategy behind promoting these types of unconstitutional laws across the nation is this: transform morality into a form of bigotry and then use corporate and government power to eliminate that “bigotry.” The goal is to alter America’s cultural values and use “bigotry” as a threat in the process of elevating a certain group to protected status above others based on sexual behaviors.

Please take action:

  1. Contact the members of the House Federal and State Affairs Committee and respectfully encourage them to vote NO on HB 2131. For more information click here for talking points. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Kansas.
  2. Look at the thirty-eight sponsors listed at the top of the bill and make note if one of them is your representative. (Click here to find your representative.) Consider visiting your representative, and/or think about the next election period and vote accordingly.

Please pray for the Chairman of the Federal and State Affairs Committee, Rep. John Barker (R-District 70).  He will be the one who decides whether to hold a hearing.  Pray that he chooses not to give the bill a hearing.

Blessings,

Our State Legislators Need Your Encouragement and Prayers

By | Kansas | No Comments

Dear Friend,

CWA of Kansas, Culture Shield Network, and Capitol Commission have joined forces to encourage and pray for state legislators

We are excited to announce that we have an Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) program this year! For the first time ever, CWA of Kansas has partnered with Culture Shield Network and Capitol Commission to be able to cover even more legislators with prayer.

The EAL program is one of the most important programs we can provide. When fully implemented, each member of our Kansas state legislature (40 Senators and 125 Representatives) will be lifted up in prayer each day of the remainder of the session and receive an encouraging post card once a month. The EAL program is not an expression of political or public policy views. It is a program for encouragement and prayer for our state legislators. The goal is to simply uplift the legislator and to remind him or her that they are being prayed for regularly.

It’s easy! You commit to adopting a legislator, praying for him/her each day and sending a post card once a month during the remainder of the 2019 legislative session (session ends around the first of May). After praying for your adopted legislator, you will mail the provided postcard that is pre-printed with a meaningful quote and a corresponding Scripture verse. Simply write a few encouraging words on the card or just sign it, affix a postcard stamp and mail the card.

Are you interested? Now more than ever our leaders need our prayers and encouragement. Prayer moves the hand of God in the affairs of this state and nation!   I Timothy 2:1-2 commands us to pray for those in authority, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior …”

We are looking for your commitment today! Please reply by contacting Dawn Paulson, Legislative Prayer Coordinator for Cultural Shield Network. She can be reached at 785-438-9400 or at [email protected].  Be sure to give her your name, physical mailing address, email, phone number, and how many legislators you would like to adopt. She will then send your postcards, a bio of your legislator, and instructions.

Please visit our webpage to find out how you can become involved in CWA of Kansas. You are needed!

Blessings,

Merry Christmas! May God Bless you Real Good!

By | Kansas | No Comments

Greetings! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from CWA of Kansas!

I am thrilled to share with you what the Lord has done in 2018 through the ministry of CWA of Kansas. We had a glorious time at our Impact 2018 Conference, lobbying on bills that were signed into law, sending out an array of e-alerts on a variety of topics, hosting several Feisty & Feminine Workshops, and more.
It was a fantastic year!  Read all about it in our Christmas letter.  You will see that much has been done because of YOUR faithfulness as you made phone calls, sent emails and letters, attended events, prayed and gave generously. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
