ACTION ALERT OCTOBER 17, 2014

Do not lose heart!

Dear CWA of Washington Member,

Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost. John Quincy Adams

Election season is upon us, and as the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, CWA encourages you to VOTE YOUR VALUES! Vote for your family, your faith and your freedoms! Clearly, President Adams understood that we may not always win, but that we need to cast our votes. As Ronald Reagan said:

Freedom is not something to be secured in any one moment of time. We must struggle to preserve it every day. And freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.

John Quincy Adams again: Duty is ours; results are God’s. Those words were his answer to a question about why he didn’t become discouraged while fighting to end slavery in our nation. (America’s God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations, William J. Federer, 2000, p. 15). At this point in our history, it can be discouraging as we watch the nation’s leaders and citizens rebel against our foundation in Judeo-Christian values and principles, thus losing the moral and spiritual compass that guided us so well for over two hundred years. We must not lose heart, but instead, Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love. (1 Cor. 16:13-14) Also, as stated in James 5:16, we must remember that The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Please stand with Concerned Women for America as we PRAY, EDUCATE AND ACT!

PRAY: For the November 4 elections around the country, that we the people will vote to preserve this greatest nation on God’s green earth as founded by unusually wise people after they studied various forms of government and decided on a constitutional Republic, prayed when they came to a standstill while writing our founding documents during the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, and struggled to reject tyranny and establish a country based on “we the people” and their Biblical faith.

EDUCATE: Study up on our history. Federer’s book quoted above is a good start, as well as the CWA national website: www.concernedwomen.org. Then share with others; it is amazing how few of us know our true history, and there is plenty to tell! For example, do you know when the phrase “under God” was added to the pledge of allegiance and why? Hint: Dwight D. Eisenhower

ACT: As you consider for whom to vote, you might check out the Heritage Alliance website where you will find their voter’s guide. You may find that guide at our state website: http://wa.cwfa.org or at http://www.heritagealliance.com/

Another way to encourage likeminded citizens to vote is simply to remind them to mail in their ballots before Tuesday, November 4. Ballots should arrive in our mailboxes this week, so consider who you might remind! Remember that if the righteous don’t vote, the righteous can’t rule!

Please remember that we are always looking for state activists to be Prayer/Action Leaders (PALS), Home Team Captains (HTCS) and Steering Committee members. Please see our website for a description of each of those positions: http://wa.cwfa.org.

Recruit other concerned citizens to join Concerned Women for America and help us grow in size and influence in Washington state as well as nationally. Share this newsletter with your like-minded friends and family members. Watch for President Penny Nance and other CWA spokeswomen on television and also on CWA’s national website!
