A Call to Prayer in Pennsylvania: Bucks County Women’s Sports Appeal

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all.” — James 1:5

As of today, no oral argument date has been scheduled for Aislin Magalengo v. Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), et al., No. 25-2684, in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

This case was brought by Pennsylvania student-athlete Aislin Magalengo, who is challenging policies that permit male athletes who identify as female to compete in girls’ athletic events. The case is part of a broader national conversation about fairness, safety, and equal opportunity in women’s and girls’ sports.

At this stage of the appellate process, the court reviews the lower court’s written record along with legal briefs submitted by both sides. The judges will determine whether the prior ruling should be upheld, reversed, or sent back for further review based on their interpretation of the law.

The timing of the court’s decision is not specified. The matter is currently under review by the court. Because appellate decisions can shape how laws are understood and applied beyond a single case, this matter carries broader implications for schools and student-athletes.

As this case moves through the court system, we turn to the Lord in prayer for wisdom, clarity, and justice. Scripture reminds us, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord” – Proverbs 21:1. With confidence in God’s sovereignty, let us pray the following:

  • Pray for Wisdom from Above – Ask the Lord to grant the judges of the Third Circuit wisdom, discernment, and understanding as they consider this appeal. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all.” — James 1:5
  • Pray for Truth and Clarity – Pray that truth would be clearly seen and rightly understood, and that confusion would give way to wisdom and sound judgment. “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” — Proverbs 2:6
  • Pray for Girls and Young Women – Pray for female athletes across Pennsylvania and the nation, that they would be protected, encouraged, and given equal opportunities to pursue their God-given gifts and abilities. “Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
  • Pray for Families and Communities – Ask the Lord to bring peace, understanding, and grace to families, schools, coaches, and communities affected by these issues. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” — Ephesians 4:3
  • Pray for Hearts to Be Turned Toward the Lord – Pray that in the midst of public debate and disagreement, hearts would be drawn to the Lord, who alone is the source of truth, grace, and peace. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” — Proverbs 14:34

Thank you for standing with  Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Pennsylvania in prayer.

As this appeal remains before the Third Circuit, may we continue to seek the Lord with confidence, knowing that He is sovereign over every court, every leader, and every outcome. We will keep you informed of significant developments and future opportunities for prayer.
