Meet CWA of Florida’s Returning State Director!

We are thrilled to introduce you to Ruth Smith, who, after taking a year’s hiatus, is returning to fulfill the role of Concerned Women for America’s (CWA) Florida State Director. Ruth has been involved with CWA since the early 1990’s as a CWA of California Prayer/Action Chapter Leader, California Area Director, and Florida State Director.

In her roles as Area Director in California and Florida State Director, Ruth helped build a robust network of Prayer/Action Chapters across the states. She engaged in policy work, lobbying on issues impacting life and the family, and assisting in planning pro-life/pro-family rallies. And now, Ruth is ready to, once again, continue this ministry in Florida.

A note from Ruth:

“I love that CWA is rooted in prayer

and action. I am a firm believer that we fight our battles on our knees. We have to pray, or we are powerless, and we have to take action, or our prayers are meaningless. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, ‘Silence in the face of evil is itself evil; God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.’

“I am grateful for the work of former State Director Beverly Shoemaker, who is a powerful prayer warrior and a passionate advocate for

Biblical principles in public policy. I look forward to continuing to provide a Christian conservative woman’s voice on current issues in Florida and building a network of Prayer/Action Chapters around the state.”

In addition to her CWA leadership experience, Ruth brings a rich background in music, ministry, and teaching. She has served for decades as a soprano soloist, piano teacher, and church musician, and has performed major solo vocal works with her local Master Chorale and Orchestra. Ruth is also a devoted woman of the Word and a gifted Bible study teacher. During the COVID restrictions, she creatively leveraged technology to launch and teach online Bible studies, continuing to encourage and disciple women during a difficult season.

Ruth and her husband, George, also served as missionaries in Peru, where they planted a church and taught missionary children at the Wycliffe Center in the Amazon jungle. Today, they live in Palm Bay and are blessed with five children and 20 grandchildren.

Please pray and ask the Lord if He might be calling you to increase your involvement in the ministry of CWA of Florida. Contact Ruth at 760-815-9803 or [email protected]. She would love to talk with you, answer your questions, and join you in prayer for God’s direction in your life.
