WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned Women for America (CWA) condemns today’s attack on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan and is praying for those affected by this tragedy. CWA also calls on churches to be on alert as the country faces an ongoing “spirit of violence.”

“Our hearts and prayers are with the congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan who were viciously attacked during their worship service today. We condemn this spirit of violence that we’ve seen directed towards churches, religious communities, and prominent Christians like Charlie Kirk in recent weeks and months. We pray for the Lord’s peace to be with those who are suffering from these violent attacks,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America.

“As mass shootings have increased in the U.S. this year, I urge all churches to thoughtfully and earnestly consider increased security to protect their congregations. While we pray for God’s protection, we know that attacks on the faithful will continue. I am happy to attend a church with tight security, but even in Washington, DC, gun laws are so stringent and concealed carry permits are so hard to obtain. Churches need to ensure that security and trained citizens are armed to protect their congregations, though we know not every church can afford the cost. States, especially those that are Democrat-run, should give special considerations for churches to arm their leaders for protection.”
