President Trump’s campaign promises were clear and concise. He assured voters his administration would cut government waste, prohibit the mutilation of children, scale back bureaucratic overreach, prohibit federal mandates on abortion, and promote strong families. His tremendous accomplishments already chart a clear next step for continuance of that agenda. It’s now time to defund Planned Parenthood.
In the months leading up the election, President Trump’s lead Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) picks, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, began exposing federal financial waste costing the everyday taxpayers billions of dollars. After winning over the American people with a landslide election, the two co-authored an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal titled, “The DOGE Plan to Reform Government.” They detailed spending Congress never intended, listing, amongst other things, “nearly $300 million to progressive groups like Planned Parenthood.”
Turns out, according to their recent annual report, American taxpayers gave, in just one year, a total of over $700 million to the largest abortion business in the country. That’s almost $2 million every single day. Talk about government waste!
But it is not just another wasted dollar to tally, this money is actively wielded against the values President Trump and most Americans support.
Within a week of taking his oath of office, President Trump signed executive orders that ended the federal mishandling of the American dollar that subsidized wrong-sex hormones to children and violated the Hyde Amendment by federally funding abortions.
President Trump’s Protecting Children from Surgical and Chemical Mutilation Executive Order clearly states, “It is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another.”
Planned Parenthood is one of the nation’s foremost indoctrinating machines, corrupting the minds of young children by surrounding them with oversexualized materials that villainize protective parents and plant seeds of gender confusion. They host classes and clubs for minors, infiltrate the school system with sponsored materials, and even endorse school board candidates that promise to promote their ideals within the education system.
Planned Parenthood then openly deals cross sex hormones to children. This begins a rigorous, irreversible dependence on Planned Parenthood. Starting young, they are patients for life. Many of their regional offices even boast the “successes” of “trans care” by flaunting the increase in visits; from 2021-2022 Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio increased their “gender-affirming care” visits by 544%. To truly protect the American dollar from funding the corrupting “trans” industry, President Trump must cut off Planned Parenthood from their federal tap.
President Trump has also made a clear commitment through executive order to enforce the Hyde Amendment, a nearly 50-year-old amendment that prohibits federal funding of abortion. However, radical abortion-for-all administrations disregarded the standard and forced public funding for abortion through various programs and recategorizing elective abortion as “healthcare.”
His purpose is clear: President Trump speaks for the majority of Americans who do not want to be forced to pay for someone else’s abortions. To fully uphold this principle, President Trump must see to it that the federal government ceases all funding to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion business in the country.
To top it all, Planned Parenthood’s political arm focuses on supporting radical, pro-abortion activists for public office. In the 2024 election, Planned Parenthood Action bragged about spending $69.5 million on pro-abortion races, including former-Vice President Harris’s Presidential campaign. Though the federal government does not directly finance the action fund, it is undeniable that government funding allows Planned Parenthood to expand its reach and brand beyond what is possible for other nonprofits that do not receive such a large boost from the taxpayers.
Defunding Planned Parenthood is the clear next step to continuing President Trump’s agenda. If Congress actually wants to honor the President’s agenda in this year’s budget, not a single dollar should go to their abortion-providing, wrong-sex hormone-dealing political enemies. It’s time to defund Planned Parenthood.
