Missouri- Ballot Box Alert! “The Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative” – Part 2 – Tax Dollars

By October 1, 2024Missouri

On November 5, 2024, Missouri citizens will be voting on Amendment 3 entitled Constitutional Amendment to Article I, Relating to Reproductive Health Care, version 10, known as “The Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative”.

Now is the time to be informed  – before you enter your polling place.

What is the reality behind the proposed amendment? The amendment would allow abortion to be funded by your tax dollars!

If enacted, our legislature would be unable to refuse abortion funding or abortion provider funding. The plain language of the ballot would amend the state constitution to “require the government not to discriminate, in government programs, funding, and other activities, against persons providing or obtaining reproductive healthcare.”

As we shared in our last Ballot Box Alertthe amendment would remove Missouri’s ban on abortion and eliminate more than 50 abortion-related laws in Missouri. One such law was recently signed by Gov. Parson, HB 2634, Defunding Abortion Providers and their Affiliates. It is accepted the amendment would potentially force our Missouri state government to pay for abortions and other reproductive procedures, thus eliminating HB 2634.

If voters adopt the proposed amendment, it cannot be changed without the introduction of a new amendment. It will be enshrined in our Missouri Constitution.

In Short:

  • A “YES” vote will change Missouri’s constitution, removing our state’s ban on abortion and eliminating 50-plus abortion-related Missouri laws.
  • A “NO” vote opposes a change to the state constitution regarding abortion.

Prayer: Please join us in prayer for our great state of Missouri. Pray we will be a people after His heart and each voter would be given discernment and wisdom as they cast their vote.

Action:

  • Commit yourself now to vote this election season and encourage others to do the same.
  • Have discussions with others about your view of this amendment and why you think it should or shouldn’t become law.
  • Print our double-sided Amendment 3 push card on cardstock, cut, and distribute. Consider distributing to your church, Bible study, homeschool group, and others. Be sure to obtain permission first.

Note: Watch for more information, including an upcoming webinar on the subject on October 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Save the date!
