Why are abortion businesses still operating when Gov. Roy Cooper (Democrat) is shutting churches, schools, and mass gatherings?
Currently, across the United States, including North Carolina, services that constitute essential health care for women, such as routine Pap smears, mammograms, and pelvic exams, are being postponed in order to reduce everyone’s risk of exposure to COVID-19 and to conserve scarce medical resources. Yet, the abortion industry is open for business as usual.
On March 18, 2020, Vice President Mike Pence issued a mass gathering ban exceeding 10 people according to this directive. While many healthcare agencies have ceased their non-essential medical, surgical, and dental procedures, Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers across North Carolina insist on business as usual – seeing between 25 and 40 patients per day while consuming Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other equipment that COVID-19 patients need. According to LoveLife, the abortion clinics are, “packing patients in close proximity against CDC guidelines, placing them at further risk for COVID-19.”
On March 24, 2020, Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Carolina joined other like-minded organizations and signed onto a letter to Gov. Cooper urging that he and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) Secretary Mandy Cohen, safeguard women and our healthcare providers by:
- Ensuring that emergency response funds are not diverted to the abortion industry,
- Ceasing operations and joining other healthcare providers who have ceased elective procedures,
- Urging abortion providers to donate their PPE and other equipment to coronavirus response,
- Safeguarding women who frequently require additional emergency response from complications.
Immediate Action Needed
#1. Please contact Gov. Cooper and NCDHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen. Urge them to join other states by closing abortion clinics and redirecting PPE and other medical equipment to our state’s much needed coronavirus response. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of North Carolina.

#2. Forward this email to family and friends.
Please pray: Dear Father, we ask that you move on the hearts of Gov. Cooper and Sec. Cohen to seek You in all things, especially with regard to this issue of life.
“Open your mouth for the speechless,
In the cause of all who are appointed to die.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy.”
