Hello Everyone! Thank you for having me here to join you in kicking off this successful nationwide project that is saving babies from the horrors of abortion. Our prayers are being answered by our Holy and loving God. They are far more powerful than all the weapons of warfare we could wage otherwise, because His ways are higher than ours, He is Sovereign, and we are praying according to His will.
Janet asked me to speak to you on unity this evening. The Bible is full of references to unity and I’d like to share just a few with you in the moments we have to share together. Those of you who have your Bibles with you please open up to John 14:6.
We start with that because there is no unity apart from Jesus Christ. Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me.”
What! Get to heaven on your own strength? Why, you might as well try to climb to the moon on a rope of sand! …George Whitefield.
Franklin Graham said it most eloquently when he was here in Capitol Park: “Mohammed didn’t die for our sins, Buddha didn’t die for our sins, JESUS CHRIST died for our sins. He arose again and ever makes intercession for us before the Father when the enemy accuses us.
When we accept Jesus Christ as our savior from our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We become the church, the body of Christ, unified in one mission to bring honor and glory to Him by our faith, actions, and attitudes.
In so doing, we know that it is His will to protect little babies in the womb from the practice of abortion, so abhorrent and within the law in our land. We are unified in our endeavor here across the street from the place in Augusta where abortion is happening. Each of us is necessary and plays a role in 40 Days for Life, praying and seeking God’s intervention on behalf of these mothers and babies to save lives and regrets.
Please turn to 1 Corinthians 12:12. The Bible says, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
So it goes with us. Each of us is necessary for the success of 40 Days for Life and saving babies’ lives. We are all different with different gifts, and all necessary working together. A project the size of 40 Days for Life must have multi-faceted talents with multi-faceted people working together in unity to the glory of God with His calling.
And then Paul goes on to talk of love, the greatest gift of all. We are here today to kick-off 40 Days for Life. May we be unified in Jesus Christ, loving the unborn, those who would sacrifice their unborn, and those who perform abortions, all the while seeking God’s intervention to end abortion altogether.
Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for 40 Days for Life, for those who were called and given the vision for this ministry, and all who take part in it, praying to You for the protection of the unborn. Please hear our prayers here and all over the world as we unite in this one objective throughout the 40 days, to save babies’ lives. We will be careful to give You all the glory and praise for what you will do as a result of our prayers. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
