Washington, D.C. – Today the Senate voted against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, S.1553 54 to 42. This legislation would hav

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee CEO and President Penny Nance had this to say:
“I am disappointed in the intellectual dishonesty and lack of moral conviction exhibited by the senators who voted against the Pain-Capable bill today. This vote leaves the United States in the company of only six other countries, such as China and North Korea, who allow elective abortions after 20 weeks gestation, putting us within the top four percent of the most permissive countries on abortion policies.
“According to a November 2014 Quinnipiac poll, 60% of Americans support federal legislation prohibiting abortion after 20 weeks, including 56% of Independents and 46% of Democrats. The Senate has dismissed constituent’s appeals, but women do not easily forget, and we will remember this unfortunate decision when we go to the polls.
“Just as it took ten years to make the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban law, we are patiently committed to protecting the most vulnerable. Our fight for the unborn does not end here. This is only one more step in an unfortunately longer journey.”
