Pray and Make Your Voice Heard On Same Sex “Marriage” In Texas

By February 20, 2015Texas

#1 Activist Judge Attempts to Declare Texas’ Marriage Law Unconstitutional

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced yesterday that his office has intervened in a Travis County probate case following a judge’s declaration that Texas’ marriage law is unconstitutional. The State has sought a stay by the Texas Supreme Court and has also asked the court to overturn the judge’s ruling. General Paxton issued the following statement:

“Texas law is clear on the definition of marriage, and I will fight to protect this sacred institution and uphold the will of Texans, who voted overwhelmingly in favor of a constitutional amendment defining the union as between one man and one woman. The probate judge’s misguided ruling does not change Texas law or allow the issuance of a marriage license to anyone other than one man and one woman.”

Please pray for Paxton’s success in this situation and that Texas will be able to guard its declared definition of marriage.

#2 Support Marriage By E-mailing State Rep. Cecil Bell’s (R-District 3) Office

Rep. Bell called me yesterday concerning a bill he wrote, HB 623, “Relating to the funding, issuing, and litigation of certain marriage licenses.” This bill would eliminate taxpayer dollars from any state or local entity that implements same-sex “marriages” in Texas.

HB 623 says in part that:

“c. State or local taxpayer funds or governmental salaries may not be used for an activity that includes the licensing or support of same-sex-marriage.

d. A State or local governmental employee officially may not recognize, grant, or enforce a same-sex marriage license. If an employee violates this subsection, the employee may not continue to receive a salary, pension, or other employee benefit at the expense of the taxpayers of this state.

e. Taxes or public funds may not be utilized to enforce a court order requiring the issuance or recognition of a same-sex marriage license.

f. A court of this State shall dismiss a legal action challenging a provision of this section and shall award costs and attorney’s fees to a person or entity named as a defendant in the legal action.

g. A person employed by this State or a local governmental entity who violates or interferes with the implementation of this section may not continue to receive a salary, pension, or other employee benefit.

h. The state is not subject to suit in law or equity pursuant to the eleventh amendment of the United States Constitution for complying with the provisions of this section, regardless of a contrary federal court ruling.”

Yesterday in Houston and in Austin, governmental employees violated the Texas constitution that states that marriage in this state is only between one man and one woman.

In his call to me, Rep. Bell said calls to his office are running 3-1 FOR SAME SEX “MARRIAGE”! He needs your help.

Take Action:

  1. Please send Rep. Bell an e-mail immediately. Put “HB 623” in the subject line. Then state your position on same sex “marriage” in Texas.
  2. Forward this e-mail on to like-minded friends, family, pastors and associates and ask them to both pray and act on this important issue.
  3. Contact your Representative and ask him/her to vote YES on HB 623 when it goes to the floor for a vote. If you don’t know who your Representative is then simply click here and go to “Who Represents Me?”  on the right column.

If Christians do not speak up, we can expect total defeat on this issue because lawmakers are being accused of not doing the will of the people.

Pray the Lord will give HB 623 success as it moves through the legislature.

For Marriage!
