Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) CEO and President Penny Nance has released the following statement in response to the final rule issued by President Obama’s Administration regarding the Health and Human Services mandate, which forces Americans to violate their religious and moral convictions:
“The final rule issued today should surprise no one. It is typical of the Administration to pretend to fix the matter by issuing a regulation which is hauntingly similar to those of the past and, at the same time, continue to kick a resolution down the road.
“This Administration continues to be the most antagonistic in history towards Americans of faith. Merely one day after the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the district court’s decision case to deny a preliminary injunction in the Hobby Lobby case, stating that it’s likely the company would be substantially burdened by the conscience mandate, the Administration’s final rule thumbs its nose at the courts and continues its anti-freedom crusade.
“Founding Father Thomas Jefferson said, ‘No provision in our Constitution ought to be dearer to man than that which protects the rights of conscience against the enterprises of civil authority.’ When our government forces Americans to deny their deeply held moral and religious convictions, it is no longer a Republic, it’s tyranny.
“Since this Administration is clearly unwilling to fix the situation, we call on Congress to preserve our constitutional rights.”
