CONCERNED WOMEN FOR AMERICA OF WASHINGTON

ACTION ALERT NOVEMBER 27, 2012

Dear CWA of Washington Member,

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Let us not grow weary in well doing (Galatians 6:9), but let us stand strong time and time again for God and His principles. Do you remember the story about King David’s behavior when his son was sick? In 2 Samuel 12:15-23, we read that while his son was ill, David pleaded with God for the child, fasted and lay all night on the ground. After the child died, “David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went in to the house of the LORD and worshiped”, saying, “‘While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again?'”

With the election season behind us, our national Day of Thanksgiving celebrated and Christmas joy around the corner, it’s time to focus our energy again on the future for our families and nation. CWA’s CEO and President Penny Nance stated after the election:

“Today, Concerned Women for America members will continue to fight to save our nation from a crippling $16 trillion debt. We will work to preserve religious freedom in the courts and in the Congress. We will support a strong military and their ability to keep our nation safe. And we will fight to protect the unborn and families and to fight the evil of sex trafficking.

“We are clearly a divided nation. Women of faith, both Evangelical and Catholic, voted their values, but we did not have the conversation needed to convince our friends and neighbors.

“As we have said, American women do not vote single issue. That means that they do not vote only on the issue of abortion, nor do they vote only on the issue of the economy. The Republicans’ insistence in unilaterally disarming on social issues means that only the Left is discussing abortion and marriage. Refusing to discuss these important issues left their candidates unprepared to intelligently engage on life.”

As you know, the traditional family is a major building block of a strong economy. Any plan to strengthen the economy that does not include a strengthening of the American family is bound to fail. Yet this election appears to be a denial of that fact. Can a strong economy or government bureaucracy replace the traditional father-mother family? I am confident that you will continue to stand with CWA as we strive to protect and promote the Biblical values that have resulted in successful, prosperous, balanced societies.

CWA of Washington will stay engaged in the battle to restore the spiritual and moral foundations of our culture. Won’t you join us? Please consider joining or leading a Prayer/Action Chapter, becoming a Home Team Captain or even joining the CWA of Washington Steering Committee to help plan our strategy to support traditional families in our state. Spread the word about Concerned Women for America and promote prayer for our Judeo-Christian heritage to be acknowledged and respected again, stand up and speak out when you see attacks on that heritage, alert others and take necessary action. CWA of Washington is ready to stand alongside you if you’ll notify us of such attacks in your community.

At both the national and state levels, Concerned Women for America will be watching for legislation that will cause further spiritual and moral degradation to our culture. Please be attentive to action alerts (http://wa.cwa.org) and national website articles (www.cwfa.org). Share our action alerts with others as we watch and respond to those attacks on the state level when the 2013 state legislature convenes. Meet us in Olympia when we go down to talk to our legislators or meet with yours in your own districts. Send a persuasive e-mail, make a telephone call or write a letter. DO SOMETHING!!! In addition, once again CWA will sponsor training classes in Olympia every two weeks during the session. Stay tuned and attend one of those classes with others. PRAY; GET INFORMED; TAKE ACTION! If you are prayed up and educated, you can influence others who will influence others and your prayers will yield results.

Speaking of praying, will you consider becoming an Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) prayer warrior? All that is required is faithful, daily prayer for one state legislator, a weekly postcard (we supply the text) and a willing heart! Attached is the EAL sign-up form for your convenience. Sign up now before the holiday season begins to bustle! Then we will send you the EAL materials early in the New Year.

We can’t change the past, but we can influence the future for Almighty God. Watch for our January action alert!

We wish you a very, very blessed Christmas season, praying that you will keep your eyes on the Reason for the Season, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May He unite, strengthen and enable all His people in the New Year according to our faithfulness!

In His Service,

Maureen Richardson, State Director
