Your Voice Made a Difference

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people.”  – 1 Timothy 2:1

Thank you for praying and contacting the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding SB26-018, Legal Protections for Dignity of Minors, as I requested at the end of January.

Your voices were heard loud and clear! Because of the strong opposition expressed, the Committee struck Section Two of this egregious bill – the provision addressing the determination of parental rights when a parent does not agree with the child’s gender identity.

Section One, which allows minors to change their names and have those changes sealed in court records, remains in the bill. However, overwhelming testimony in opposition was heard and was placed on the record. Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Colorado was represented at that hearing, and I testified on your behalf.

Unfortunately, despite these concerns, the bill was passed out of the Committee.

Here is how the Committee voted:

For the Bill:

Sen. Nick Hinchsen (D-District 3)
[email protected]

Sen. Mike Weissman (D-District 28)
[email protected]

Sen. Katie Wallace (D-District 17)
[email protected]

Sen. Dylan Roberts (D-District 8)
[email protected]

Against the Bill:

Sen. John Carson (R-District 30)
[email protected]

Sen. Lynda Zamora Wilson (R-District 9)
[email protected]

Action: Please take a moment to thank Senators Carson and Wilson for standing for parental rights and opposing this legislation. Respectfully contact the others and express your disappointment. Let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Colorado.

Pray: Pray that God would move on the hearts of legislators to genuinely protect our children in Colorado, not merely protection in the misleading titles of bills only.

God bless your advocacy for Colorado’s children and parents. Your prayers, calls, and emails truly matter.
