“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven” - Matthew 18:10
We need for you to do just three things today: Pray for these two bills and then send two short emails.
#1 App Store Accountability Act
HB570, authored by Rep. Kim Carver (R – District 89), requires parental consent for children to download applications on their mobile devices.
This legislation has passed out of the Senate Commerce Committee with amendments and is scheduled to be heard on the Senate Floor Monday, June 1.
Rep Kim Carver has waged war with big tech who have attempted to avoid responsibility in protecting children on the internet by opposing having to verify their ages.
Take Action: Please contact your Senator and ask him/her to support HB570. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Louisiana. If you don’t know who your Senator is or how to contact him/her, click here.
#2 Medical/Mental Care
HB400, authored by Rep. Emily Chenevert (R-District 66) and Dodie Horton (R-District 9), affirms that parents have the right to give informed consent for medical and mental health services provided to their minor children.
It also ensures parents have access to their child’s medical records and protects providers from liability when acting under parental authorization, except in cases of negligence. HB400 is a vital step to uphold parental authority and transparency in healthcare.
This bill has successfully passed the House Health and Welfare Committee. It also passed the House floor on May 27, with a final passage vote of 83 yeas and 9 nays. This bill is now pending a committee hearing in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee that may take place sometime next week.
Take Action: Please contact the committee members and encourage them to vote in favor of HB400. The Bible is very clear in emphasizing the importance of protecting children. It highlights God’s care for children, the responsibility of parents and caregivers to provide for their well-being, and the need to safeguard them from harm.
Please Join Me in Prayer: Lord, we ask that the children of Louisiana be protected and that the senators of Louisiana have the wisdom and courage to pass laws that will protect our most precious and vulnerable. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
