HB 425, The Stop Coerced Abortion Act, authored by Rep. Josh Carlson (R-District 43), is still pending to be heard in the Senate Judiciary C Committee one day next week.
HB 425 broadens the current definition of coercion to encompass tactics often used by abusers that force a woman to undergo an abortion against her will. Louisiana law already prohibits coerced abortion. This legislation will be modified to include the ways abusers use force, control, and/or intimidation.
