“So God created man in His own image;
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.”

HB570, The App Store Accountability Act, is moving forward! It has passed the House floor with a vote of 99-0 and has 46 co-authors. It is scheduled to be voted on in the Senate Commerce Committee tomorrow.
Under HB570, teens would need parental permission to download apps like TikTok, Snapchat, or Instagram. This legislation, which passed without objection in the House Commerce Committee and on the House floor, aims to give parents greater control over their children’s digital lives by requiring app stores to verify the age of users and confirm parental consent for anyone under 18 years old.
The bill’s supporters, including Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, argue that placing the responsibility on app stores is both practical and protective of user privacy. Nicole Lopez, Meta’s Director of Global Litigation Strategy for Youth, told lawmakers the company backs HB570 as a “privacy-protective solution” that streamlines parental control without overburdening app developers.
“Parents already verify age and grant permissions when they buy a phone for their teen,” Lopez said. “This bill would make that process apply to all app downloads, not just purchases, using the infrastructure Apple and Google already have.” Eighty percent of U.S. parents support legislation requiring parental consent for app downloads by teens under 16, according to polling data. The bill would also help ensure compliance with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act which restricts the collection of data from users under 13.

HB 575, Justice for Victims of Abortion Drug Dealer Act, is moving forward! Authored by Rep. Lauren Ventrella (R-District 65), it is scheduled to be heard in the Senate Judiciary A Committee tomorrow. This Act will help us, through legislation, to fight the abortion industry’s abortion pill machine. It will help mothers, fathers, and grandparents who are hurt by abortion! This empowers Louisiana citizens with the ability to file suit against abortion drug dealers who illegally provide abortion pills in the state. It makes clear that those involved in providing abortion pills, from manufacturers to street dealers, can be held civilly liable for the damage they cause.
