“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith;
be courageous; be strong.”

The legislature has fast-tracked and passed Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s Vaccine Bill, SB3 – Immunization Rules and Recommendations, during the special session. The Governor is the final step, and it sits on her desk awaiting her signature to become law.
She has signed every other bill from the session except this one. That means your voice could make a difference.
What SB3 Does:
- SB3 changes who determines vaccine policy for New Mexico children and adults.
- Removes the federal CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) from influencing state vaccine policy.
- Grants authority to the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to determine required vaccines.
- Mandates vaccination for all children in daycare and early childhood programs.
- Allows the DOH to make vaccine recommendations for adults.
Though religious and medical exemptions remain under the current law, the bill could open the door to future restrictions – especially since the AAP supports removing religious exemptions and recommending COVID shots starting at six months old.
