By March 4, 2015South Dakota

Great News! As you may know SB189 passed in the full Senate yesterday with a vote of 23-12. Click here to check the votes. We wanted a Yes vote.

SB189 will be heard in the House Taxation Committee Thursday morning, March 5.

SB189 is a good bill that will “provide a tax credit to insurance companies that contribute to an organization providing educational scholarships to certain students and instructional supply grants to certain teachers and parents.”

SB189 is an opportunity to support non-public education to low income families and also provide grants to public school teachers as well as home school parents for instructional supplies. This is a school choice program that is proving successful in 14 states and is supported by home school organizations.
