Dear Friends,

Thank you for calling and visiting your Representative and Senators. Without your action, Congress would be on the same destructive spending binge it has followed for the past couple of years!

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was barely able to avert a government shutdown and fund our troops despite President Barack Obamas and Senator Harry Reids (D-Nevada) political shenanigans. While this late-night agreement was a disappointment because it cuts only $38.5 billion and fails to defund Planned Parenthood or ObamaCare, it was a small victory for American families who want to see Washington stop its out-of-control spending.

While final details about this agreement are still coming out, we know that Senator Reid has committed that the Senate will fully debate and vote on bills to defund ObamaCare and Planned Parenthood. We have also learned the agreement reached reinstates the Dornan Amendment which ensures Americans are not forced to subsidize abortions in our nations capital. At this time, it is unclear whether the agreement cuts funding for Title X family planning, International Family Planning or the United Nations Population Fund which supports coercive abortions.

The agreement is a first step in many larger battles that Speaker Boehner will have with President Obama and Senator Reid. Already we have heard that a vote on our nations debt ceiling will happen before the July recess and the 2012 budget battles are looming as well.

Stay tuned we will be letting you know additional details as we get them!

Blessings,
