We celebrate the passage of three outstanding bills that you helped to pass into law!
Victories:
- An education bill to enrich Health education instruction for Middle School students related to pregnancy and human development has been signed by Gov. Doug Burgum! Health Education instruction will now include a digital ultrasound video showing the development and moving image of a growing baby in the womb.
- Two women’s sports bills to prohibit male-born athletes from entering women’s sports as transwomen (one for high school-aged athletes, the other involves post-secondary-aged female athletes) were also signed into law.
The Governor’s office has received many negative messages from those who believe male-born students should be able to participate on the sports team of their choosing. The media, too, has been relentless in its misguided messages. See the New York Times article, which says the bills are an attempt “to regulate the lives of transgender people.”
Action: We are very grateful for Gov. Burgum’s support! Will you send a message and thank him for standing with children and female athletes? Let the Governor know you appreciate his support for using images of life in the womb in Health Education classes and thank him for his stand to protect women’s sports for female athletes in North Dakota.
