Penny Nance Joins Fox Business To Discuss North Carolina Governor’s Education “State of Emergency”

By | Defense of Family, Education, News and Events | No Comments

Earlier this week, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (Democrat) declared a “state of emergency” in order to stir up controversy over the educational choice bills that the legislature has placed on his desk. Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America joined Kennedy on FOX Business Network to discuss how politicians like Gov. Cooper are failing the children of this country and how it is time to let freedom ring – freedom in education that allows parents to use their tax dollars to choose the schools that best fit the needs of their children. Eleven states have passed choice in education bills, and North Carolina is next.

Urgent! Tell Gov. Cooper to Sign Pro-Life Bill

By | North Carolina | No Comments

Urge Gov. Roy Cooper to sign the Human Life Non-Discrimination Act/No Eugenics Bill (HB453)

Last week at our 20th Annual Day At The Capitol, Concerned Women for America of North Carolina lobbied on HB453, the Human Life Non-Discrimination Act/No Eugenics bill. The bill prohibits abortions from being sought “because of the actual or presumed race or sex of the unborn child or the presence or presumed presence of Down syndrome.”

HB453 passed the House in May with bipartisan support (six Democrats voting in favor with the Republicans). It passed the Senate last week with no Democrats voting in its favor.

The bill is now before Gov. Cooper (Democrat), who has ten days to sign the bill, veto the bill, or allow it to become law without his signature. In the case of a veto, the bill will be returned to the House, where it originated for a potential override and a three-fifths vote of the Senate and House.

Urgent Action Needed

  1. Contact Gov. Cooper urging him to sign HB 453. We encourage you to pray for Gov. Cooper as you are making your call or sending an email that his heart will be softened and show mercy on these pre-born children. If you are a member of Concerned Women for America of North Carolina, be sure to let him know. Phone: (919) 814-2000 | E-mail
  2. Forward this information to friends and family.

Protect Babies Born Alive in NC: Help Us Override the Veto!

By | North Carolina | No Comments

Last month, our state legislators passed SB359, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, only to have it vetoed by Gov. Roy Cooper (Democrat) on April 18. In response to the veto, pro-life leaders from around the state, including myself, spoke at a press conference in Raleigh this week urging legislators to set aside politics and have compassion on babies surviving a horrific abortion – allowing these babies to be cared for instead of being set aside to die on a tray.

Thankfully, on Wednesday, April 30, the State Senate voted in favor of a veto override by a vote of 30 – 20, right along party lines, except for one courageous Democrat, Sen. Don Davis (D-Greene) who voted to support the override. The State House will vote to override the veto next, but at this time there is no date for the vote scheduled. Like the Senate, the House needs to reach a 3/5ths majority vote to override the Governor’s veto.

Please PRAY!
Pray for the hearts and minds of those who have been opposing the protection of innocent little babies.

Take Action! Please make a few quick calls!

  • Call Sen. Don Davis (D-Greene) at 919-715-8363 and thank him for his courageous conviction to vote against his Party in favor of the override.
  • Call your state representative and respectfully urge him/her to vote in favor of life by voting “Yes” to override Gov. Cooper’s veto of SB359. Click here to find out who your representative is and how to contact him/her.

On the national front: CWA of North Carolina joined other pro-life organizations in signing onto a promise letter urging the candidates running for Congress in North Carolina’s third and ninth districts, to pledge public support to sign the discharge petition for the federal Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 962) upon being elected to Congress.

Thank you for being a voice in North Carolina for those who have no voice.
