Virginia Girls’ Sports Bill Heads to Senate – Take Action Today!

By | Virginia | No Comments

HB1387a bill to help ensure fairness in women’s sports, passed out of the House last week. Thank you for making calls and praying. Your efforts made a difference!

The bill is now headed to the Senate Education and Health Committee and could be voted on Thursday morning, February 16. It is important that the Chairman and members of the committee hear from you.

Fair competition and equality in women’s sports are being threatened, and this legislation will combat that. Individual male born athletes should not be eligible to participate on an athletic team that is exclusively for females – from kindergarten to high school to college.

Many biological girls train and work hard to excel in their chosen sport with the goal of a college scholarship. When a biological boy who thinks he’s a girl is allowed to compete with the biological girls because of his natural endurance and strength, he steals the prize. This ought not to be so.

Read CWA’s Protecting Women’s Sports CWA Fact Sheet 2022.

ACTION: Contact the members of the Senate Education and Health Committee and ask them to vote yes on HB 1387. The committee members and their contact information is below my signature. If you are a member of CWA of Virginia, be sure to let them know.

Please forward this information to family and friends.

Thank you for your prayer and action!

Girls’ Sports Bill is Moving! Calls Needed to Delegates

By | Virginia | No Comments

HB1387, bill to help ensure fairness in women’s sports, passed out of the House Education Committee and is now being considered by the full House of Delegate. Far-left activists are aggressively opposing the bill and are working hard to intimidate legislators from supporting it. Engage today to help stop their efforts!

HB 1387 will prohibit biological men from competing on women’s scholastic sports teams. It would ensure that female athletes will continue to be afforded the opportunity to compete on a level playing field.

ACT TODAY! Please email, call, or tweet your State Delegate through our Action Center HERE and urge them to protect women’s sports. Girls should not be forced to compete against men playing on women’s sports teams.

Be sure to share this information with like-minded family and friends.

Visit Concerned Women for America’s Standing With Female Athletes page for timely resources on this issue. Read CWA’s Protecting Women’s Sports CWA Fact Sheet 2022.

Please pray for your State Delegate by name. Pray for boldness and wisdom, and protection.

CWA of Virginia: We are YOUR voice at the Virginia State Capitol

By | Virginia | No Comments

With the strike of a gavel, the Virginia General Assembly legislative session is underway. The 2023 session will run for only 30 days, and General Assembly will consider close to 2000 pieces of legislation. You can read how bills become laws in Virginia here.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Virginia will have prayer teams at the Capitol each week. We will meet with legislators to discuss and promote legislation that falls in line with CWA’s seven core issues, including pro-life legislation, women’s sports, parental choice in education, sexual exploitation, election integrity, and opposing legislation that promotes comprehensive sexual education, race-based and radical gender ideology in curricula.

Thank you for praying for a hedge of protection each week as our teams travel to and from Richmond. Please pray for favor in the sight of God and man, particularly among those who oppose our issues. Thank you for praying that our words would be gracious and kind, showing respect and humility. Pray that we would be wise as serpents and gentle as doves and that the Spirit of God would have full rule and reign as we speak. Pray that we would be a sweet aroma and that we would be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks for the reason for the hope that is in us, with meekness and fear.

Thank you for your continued support of CWA of Virginia. Together, through prayer, education, and action, we can impact Virginia mightily for His Kingdom!

Let justice roll on like a river and righteousness like a never-failing stream. Amos 5:24

Giving Thanks

By | Virginia | No Comments

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34

With the arrival of November and the soon celebration of Thanksgiving all across this great nation of ours, it is only fitting that I express my deep gratitude for you, our members, and our partners in ministry.

2022 has been an amazing year of opportunity and open doors. The Lord has seen fit to allow us to engage with our elected officials through the building of relationships as a result of prayer, office visits, telephone calls, emails, and work in the field. The Lord has made a way for Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Virginia to increase in influence through growth in our grassroots efforts by way of Prayer/Action Chapters whose purpose is to educate on the issues, pray over the issues, and act on those issues. Our CWA of Virginia leaders across the state have received excellent training and are making a difference in their individual communities thanks to your prayers and financial investment in our organization.

I would like to share one of my favorite Thanksgiving quotes. It will be my prayer for us all during this special holiday season.

“I think that it is a better thing than thanksgiving: thanks-living. How is this to be done? By a general cheerfulness of manner, by an obedience to the command of Him by whose mercy we live, by a perpetual, constant delighting of ourselves in the Lord, and by a submission of our desires to His will.” Charles Spurgeon

I would enjoy hearing from you during this Thanksgiving season. Feel free to reach out to me via email at [email protected] or give me a call at (434)238-2770.

Giving thanks for you,

Teresa Pregnall

CWA of Virginia Thanks Attorney General Miyares

By | Virginia | No Comments

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Virginia recognizes the importance of election integrity and applauds Attorney General Jason Miyares’ decisive action for election integrity.

On Friday, September 9, Attorney General Miyares announced the creation of the Election Integrity Unit at the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). The 20-member Election Integrity Unit, composed of attorneys, investigators, and paralegals, will investigate and prosecute violations of election law, provide legal guidance, and work with law enforcement to ensure both legality and purity in Virginia’s elections.

In a press release, Attorney General Miyares stated, “I pledged during the 2021 campaign to work to increase transparency and strengthen confidence in our state elections. It should be easy to vote and hard to cheat. The Election Integrity Unit will work to help to restore confidence in our democratic process in the Commonwealth.”

The right to a fair election is personal to the Attorney General as his mother fled from Communist Cuba, an oppressive regime that suppressed her right to vote and the right to speak freely.

Take Action!

Contact Attorney General Jason Miyares here and thank him for working to ensure Virginia elections are fair and transparent and that every legal vote is counted. Put “thank you” in the subject box and add your comments in the details box.

Forward this email to family and friends.

Join us in prayer: Father God, You tell us in Your Word that You “detest lying lips, but delight in people who are trustworthy.” Proverbs 12:22. We thank you for Attorney General Miyares’ commitment to do this with our election system. Guide his Election Integrity Team to find any election fraud committed and effectively prosecute violations so that we can have fair elections representing the will of the people of Virginia. In the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, we pray, amen.

Thank you!

Concerned Women for America of Virginia
Applauds the SCOTUS Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Forest, Virginia – After eight years of a liberal-controlled governorship and some of the worst abortion laws in the nation, we praise God Virginia now has a governor, Glenn Youngkin, who is committed to advancing the rights of the unborn.

CWA of Virginia State Director Teresa Pregnall, speaking for Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, has this to say concerning the Supreme Court decision:

“We are optimistic over the next year that the citizens of this great Commonwealth will send back to the Virginia Legislature those who value human life in the womb and who will send strong pro-life bills to the Governor. We also have a pro-life ally in Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

“The Supreme Court has finally overturned Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization; now it is up to the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia to do our part. We stand ready to welcome women and unborn children and are prepared to support a culture of life that protects all.”

Marching for Life Prayer Warriors

By | Virginia | No Comments

By Dorana Sylvia, CWA of Virginia’s Stafford Prayer/Action Chapter Leader

I was absolutely overwhelmed by the love and joy I experienced at the Virginia March for Life. It was refreshing to see so many people in prayer, both young and old, marching with the common goal of celebrating life! I rejoice that I was able to have my three sons and my mother join me on this special day with my Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Virginia family.

The Lord moved me to share my testimony, with many at the March, of having once been a late-term abortion ultra-feminist activist. I had believed the lie, yet God had a plan for my life. The common question was, “What made you change?” My response was a simple one, “Jesus Christ and the prayers of faithful Christians.”

God strategically placed in my path to get my attention survivors of abortion, children who had been conceived through incest, and rape victims who had kept their babies. How could I ever again advocate for abortion?

The people I met at the Virginia March for Life are those warriors who continue to pray for the lost and for God to save and restore those affected by abortion. While at the March, I never heard an insult toward women who have had abortions or were considering abortion. The message was clear: God is love, He is a forgiving God, women are not alone in their pregnancy, and God alone owns life.

The Enemy may try to come after our families and our children, but he is no match for my Savior, the Hope of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Committed to Prayer

By | Virginia | No Comments

(Picture: Virginia Attorney General Jason S. Miyares is prayed for by CWA of Virginia State Director Teresa Pregnall (top right) and Prayer/Action Chapter Leaders Ann Robeson and Cathy Tankersley.)

“The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 (Amplified)

Concerned Women for America of Virginia is committed to prayer. We fully understand that there is a cultural battle raging in our state and across our nation. There is a spiritual battle for the hearts and minds of those in positions of authority, as well as every citizen of this great Commonwealth.

Both prayer and active involvement are necessary if we are to make a difference for the cause of Christ. We understand that nothing of eternal significance is accomplished apart from prayer.

Would you prayerfully consider joining us on the frontline in 2022?

Thank you,
Teresa Pregnall

Building Relationships in Richmond

By | Virginia | No Comments

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Virginia leaders and members continue to make visits to the State Capitol during our General Assembly Session. Our primary purpose is one of building relationships through prayer and encouragement.

Our prayer has been that the mighty name of Jesus Christ would be proclaimed in every office, every hallway, all along the way, and that many would be reassured, comforted, and emboldened by the mention of His name.

We are hopeful that by building stronger relationships with our legislators, an open door of opportunity will be had in forthcoming General Assembly Sessions, and that good dialogue, discussion, and legislation will be the fruit of our efforts.

Forest Prayer/Action Chapter Heads to Richmond

By | Virginia | No Comments

The Forest Prayer/Action Chapter participated in the February 2, 2022, Parent Advocacy Day sponsored by our ally, The Family Foundation. The Chapter attended a House Education Committee hearing and then headed to the House gallery to watch the Delegates gavel in for the session. Delegate Kathy Byron (R-District 22) recognized the Chapter from the House floor. It was also a day of connecting with local legislators and offering prayer and encouragement.

Before leaving Richmond, the group prayed around the flagpole at the Governor’s mansion, offering prayers for Gov. Glenn Youngkin, his family, and staff.

What’s at Stake in Virginia? – The Future of Women’s Sports

By | SPSV-VA, Virginia | No Comments

The future of female athletics is on the line in the Virginia election. You need to know if the candidates will uphold the rights of female student-athletes to fair competition, or will force our daughters on the sidelines as boys identifying as girls cut in?

Next year will mark the 50th Anniversary of Title IX – the law that made it possible for women and girls to receive equal opportunities in education, including athletics.  So why are we having to fight to uphold these rights all over again?  Because liberals in the General Assembly passed a law signed by Gov. Ralph Northam that requires school districts to treat gender identity as a student’s sex.

We stand on the truth that God created male and female, and basic biology tells us that male bodies have advantages in athletic competition over female bodies. That’s not speculation – that is science.  But Democrats still press on with their radical agenda to overrule science and common sense at the expense of our daughters.

The only way to save women’s sports is by electing leadership from the statehouse to the Governor’s mansion who will protect our daughters and stop the push for destructive gender ideology in our schools.  Other states have succeeded; it’s time for Virginia to do the same.

We know that athletic participation is a key factor in developing confidence and leadership skills, but when girls feel defeated before the race even begins, they wonder why even try.  They deserve better.

Your vote matters.  Hold the line against radical gender ideology as you vote in this year’s election.  Give our girls the chance they deserve to excel in sports and in life.
