State Title IX Federal Funding at Risk for New Mexico!

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” – Proverbs 31:8

We want to alert you to an important federal investigation that directly impacts women’s and girls’ sports in New Mexico.

On November 21, 2025, Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-Louisiana), Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, launched a major investigation into states that are failing to comply with Title IX. These states are allowing males to compete in women’s sports and permitting shared access to facilities based on gender identity in violation of federal law. The investigation highlights how recipients of federal funding are in clear violation of current law and federal directives – New Mexico is one of the states cited.

You can read the press release here: HELP Committee Release. By clicking on New Mexico in the article, you can see the letter sent to the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Higher Education.

Federal funding is on the line, and responses from the Secretaries are due by Tuesday, December 8, 2025. Inaction demonstrates a refusal to protect female athletes and comply with federal law. Sen. Cassidy has made it clear that women and girls must have every opportunity to succeed on the field and in the classroom, and Congress has the power of the purse to enforce compliance.

CWA has played a key role in earlier investigations referenced in this inquiry. This is a crucial moment to ensure that state officials uphold the law and protect female athletes.

Action:

  • Contact the Secretaries of Education and express your support for Title IX law – before Tuesday, December 8. Let them know that you are being updated by Concerned Women for America of New Mexico and expect compliance.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
We lift up women and girls in New Mexico. Protect their opportunities to compete fairly and safely in sports. Grant wisdom, courage, and integrity to lawmakers and state officials, and guide them to uphold Your truth and the law. Help us, as Your people, to speak boldly for the rights of those who cannot speak for themselves. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Thank you for standing strong in protecting women and girls in sports. CWA is watching, and together we can ensure accountability.
