Washington, D.C. – Today, by a vote of 56-43, the Senate voted against cloture on the Defense Authorization Bill. The Defense Authorization Bill will not get a final vote today.
Concerned Women for America (CWA) applauds the senators for delaying a vote on a bad bill with many issues, including amendments to allow abortions to be performed on military bases, allow homosexuals to openly serve in the military (a repeal of a 1993 law), and essentially extend (via the DREAM Act) amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens who entered the United States before the age of 16 by providing them a green card that could quickly be converted to a non-conditional green card.
Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America, said, “To distract from the purpose of the Defense Authorization Bill, which is to fund our troops, is unacceptable. The social agenda of a few people should not get in the way of supporting the men and women who fight to protect Americans.”
Concerned Women for America is the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization.
