“So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.”
– 2 Chronicles 27:6
As I recently read this verse, I thought of us as women and how it applies to our work through CWA of Washington. What would happen if we applied this verse personally?
“And she became mighty, because she prepared her ways before the Lord.” The principle remains the same.
A key word is prepared.
In Hebrew, it means more than simply making plans. It means to establish, make firm, set in order, direct, or make ready. Jotham intentionally aligned his life with God before seeking success or strength.
Notice the powerful sequence in this verse.
She prepared her ways. She intentionally ordered her life according to God’s will. Her heart, decisions, priorities, and conduct were brought under His authority.
Before the Lord. She lived with the awareness that God was her audience. Her desire was not to gain recognition or approval from others, but to walk faithfully before Him.
She became mighty. Her strength was the result—not the starting point. As her life was surrendered to Him, God’s work established her. Influence, wisdom, and steadfastness flowed from a life established in God.
Notice what the verse does not say. It does not say she became mighty because of her gifts, influence, wealth, or circumstances. It simply says she became mighty because she prepared her ways before the Lord.
True might is not something we achieve. It is something God develops in women who faithfully prepare their ways before Him—not merely for personal growth, but so they can strengthen and influence others for His glory, just as He did in Jotham’s life.
How might God be preparing you?
Action: As you reflect on these words, prayerfully consider how He might be calling you to become more involved with CWA of Washington.
Perhaps He is leading you to serve as an Influencer—sharing CWA’s timely prayer and action opportunities through your social media, email, text messages, and personal relationships so others are informed and equipped to respond.
Or perhaps He is calling you to become a Prayer/Action Chapter Leader, gathering women in your community to pray, grow in Biblical understanding, and take meaningful action on the issues shaping our families, churches, communities, state, and nation.
Ask the Lord where He would have you serve—and then step forward in faith.
Please join me in prayer: Lord, help us prepare our ways before You. Establish our hearts, direct our steps, and make us faithful. Show us how You would have us use the gifts, opportunities, and relationships You have entrusted to us for Your glory.
Raise up women across Washington who will faithfully pray, courageously stand for truth, and influence their communities for Christ. If You are calling us to serve through CWA or elsewhere, give us willing hearts to say, “Yes.”
May our lives bring You glory, and may You use us however You choose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
