Take Action NOW: Protect NC’s Constitutional Marriage Amendment

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

On May 8, 2012, 61 percent of the PEOPLE of North Carolina voted FOR marriage as between one man and one woman. But the battle did not end there. In 2014, the PEOPLE’s voice must be heard loud and clear: We do not want government or judges changing that definition of marriage for us today or for our children tomorrow.

On July 9, 2013, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) announced that it will attempt to amend a complaint brought against the State in a lawsuit that was filed last year in order to challenge the state’s constitution, which defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman. The ACLU is trying to gain some advantage in light of the recent Supreme Court marriage rulings, but their scheme is easily seen.

The challenge will be to the Marriage Amendment!

The ACLU will attempt to amend its claims brought against the State in a lawsuit that was filed last year. The lawsuit they are trying to amend will challenge the constitutionality of North Carolina’s adoption statues on the basis that the state statutes don’t allow second-parent adoptions by unmarried couples. The amendment to this complaint would be a direct constitutional challenge to the Constitutional Marriage Amendment.

One of the things the Supreme Court said in the recent decisions is that the definition of marriage is a matter that has traditionally been left for the states to decide and the people of North Carolina have been clear on what we want.

Marriage is between a husband and wife. The people of this state do not want marriage to be anything but that. But, as is usually the case, the ACLU does not want to respect the will of the people, but instead wants to make unelected judges to impose homosexual marriage in our state by judicial fiat.

Take Action: Contact North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper and encourage him to remain true to the oath he took to “support, maintain and defend” our state constitution, which includes our constitutional marriage amendment. Click here to e-mail his office.

Pray that the North Carolina Marriage Amendment, defining marriage according to God’s Word, as between a husband and a wife (Genesis 2:24), will prevail as law in our great state. Pray that God’s truth will be revealed to the ACLU and those who oppose traditional marriage.

Your prayers and actions will make a difference for marriage and family in North Carolina, “the shining light on the hill” (Matthew 5:14).
