NANCE: Hey Planned Parenthood, What About the Gosnell Victims’ “Right to Shoes”?

The witness testimony coming out of Kermit Gosnell’s trial is worse than a horror movie script – babies left in shoe boxes, babies born alive and left to swim in a toilet to die, and worse. We have seen the true lack of concern for human life as many continually ignore this case and its implications for our society’s mentality about the “least of these” among us. Given that Dr. Gosnell kept 50 or more jars containing severed babies’ feet like trophies on display in his slaughterhouse of a clinic, Planned Parenthood’s upcoming fundraiser name may shock you. Ready for it? “Right to Shoes.” Planned Parenthood of Maryland’s decision to continue their annual fundraiser “Right to Shoes,” a tongue-in-cheek title intended to put a cute face on the “right to choose” slogan is more than unnerving.

Gosnell currently faces five charges of murder – four counts for infanticide and one count for a woman who died as a result of a botched abortion. Sadly, a federal judge chose to drop three other counts of murder, one count of infanticide, and five counts of abuse of a corpse. These babies – perhaps some girl victims of sex-selection abortions – along with 55 million others will never receive their new pairs of shoes.

But what does Planned Parenthood really care? Their sole condemnation of Gosnell’s actions was a tweet calling the Gosnell case “appalling.” At yet another fundraiser for Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania, the organization’s president and chief executive admitted knowledge of the house of horrors but did nothing to report it. Dayle Steinberg said they would encourage clients who saw the Gosnell clinic to “report it to the Department of Health.”

So a blush of faux embarrassment, a bland vow to report such situations, and it’s back to fundraising and business as usual. Wow. Shocker there.

Don’t forget, Planned Parenthood is more than the country’s largest abortion provider; 98 percent of its “services to women” consist of abortion. They are also the country’s largest pro-infanticide corporation. We know this because last month a Planned Parenthood representative, Alisa LaPolt Snow, admitted to the Florida legislature that when a baby is born alive due to a botched abortion, she and Planned Parenthood believe that the fate of that child is a decision “between the patient and the health care provider” – an overly vague term that could very easily be defined as “Kermit Gosnell.” This is the consequence of abortion-on-demand.

And Planned Parenthood isn’t the only one supporting infanticide.

We’ve known for years that President Barack Obama is the reigning poster boy for infanticide advocates, having refused four times to support Born Alive bills. The first time Obama opposed such an initiative was in 2001, when he voted “no” in the Illinois legislature against supporting the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (Senate Bill 1095). Again, in April 2002, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act was reintroduced at the 92nd Illinois General Assembly. And again, Obama voted “no,” this time going on record to explain that he feels it should be legal to kill a baby born alive during a botched abortion, stating, “An additional doctor who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion.”

“Burden” is an interesting choice of word, isn’t it? This is, after all, the president who imposed a burdensome healthcare mandate that forces private corporations and individual citizens to violate their deeply held religious convictions and pay for others’ contraception and abortifacients.

A little more irony if you can stand it: While President Obama is unwilling to go on record to condemn the actions of Gosnell, a man who very well may go down in history as America’s most prolific serial killer, Obama has graciously agreed to speak to Planned Parenthood and its supporters the morning after its Washington, D.C., fundraiser gala, “Time for Care,” which is being held on the same night as Planned Parenthood of Maryland’s “Right to Shoes” event. Call it a “Morning-After Speech” if you will.

I’m sure the president will make coy little jokes, and he’ll elicit funds and sycophantic laughter from an adoring audience who may truly believe they’re supporting the cause of “a woman’s right to choose.” All the while, the Kermit Gosnell’s of the abortion industry’s reality will be turning lights on in the office, grinning grimly at their trophy jars of babies feet, and preparing for another day’s bloody profit.
