Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Those words are so familiar to many of us that we can sing them without even consciously thinking about what they truly mean. I ask that you take a few moments to think about what these words mean to us. Christ is the King! From eternity past to eternity future.
The King Creator- The Bible tells us that Jesus was in the beginning with God. He has always been and will always be. (John 1:1-4, 10, 14)
The King in the manger- In fulfillment of prophecy, Jesus was born of the house and lineage of David- a proven blood line of royalty. (Matthew 1: 1-17)
The King on the cross- Even as the crowd and soldiers mocked Him, they had no understanding of the Truth they spoke. (Matthew 27:11, 29, 37, 42, 54)
The King seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us until He comes again- Jesus ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God- the place of power, where all angels, authorities, and powers are under His command. (Romans 8:34, 1 Peter 3:22, Ephesians 1:20)
The King still to come- Jesus is coming back. He will come again in glory, riding on a white horse, leading the armies of heaven. (Revelation 19: 11-16)
Knowing these things, we should have unspeakable joy, our Lord is come and our Savior reigns!
Merry Christmas … and Joy to the World!
