Marching Into Spring

So Joshua, son of Nun, called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant of the Lord and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it.” And he ordered the army, “Advance! March around the city, with an armed guard going ahead of the ark of the Lord.”
–Joshua 6:6-7

We associate the word March with many different things—March Madness, the Ides of March, and the March for Life, to name a few. But when we think about the month of March, do we think of the action word “march”?

Let’s begin to see this month as a time to get up and make our move for the Lord. We have rested long enough in our winter slumber—now it’s time to step out and serve Him. As the days grow longer and spring begins to arrive, what better way to welcome new opportunities than to march toward them with purpose in March?

Our “March” Prayer

Father God,

You have carried us through another winter, and we thank You for bringing us into a new spring. May we use this season as an opportunity to move forward with You, taking Your Word wherever You lead us. You alone know the places You are calling us to go. Help us to trust You and to be obedient to Your call, just like the Israelites in Joshua, who watched walls fall because of their faith and obedience.

Lead us as we march forward in Your name.

We pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
