Louisiana: Help Us Ensure Election Integrity

The 2024 elections are upon us, and we need your help to ensure that every eligible vote counts in Louisiana! Here are ways to engage:

  1. Serve as challengers and watchers during early voting and on Election Day. Reach out to your local Republican or Democrat parties for information on qualifications and how to apply.
  2. Serve as Officer of Elections/Election Officer (poll workers.) Learn about Officers of Elections in Louisiana and how to apply here. Use can also use the poll worker lookup tool to find information on being a poll worker in your community, including requirements, hours, pay, training, and more.
  3. Ensure Louisianans are registered to vote. We have made it easy for you. Download our Conducting a Voter Registration Drive: Instructions and Helpful Tips.

Election Dates

Primary Election

  • Wednesday, February 21 – Deadline to register to vote in person, by mail or at the OMV Office.
  • Saturday, March 2 – Deadline to register to vote through the GeauxVote Online Registration System.
  • Tuesday, March 19 at 4:30 p.m. – Deadline to request an absentee ballot (other than military and overseas voters). You can request an absentee ballot online through the Voter Portal or in writing through your Registrar of Voters 
  • Friday, March 22 at 4:30 p.m. – Deadline for a registrar of voters to receive a voted absentee ballot (other than military and overseas voters).
  • March 9-16 (excluding Sunday, March 10) from 8:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. – Early voting.
  • Saturday, March 23, 2024 Primary Election – Presidential Preference/ Municipal Primary Election. Polls open 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

General Election

  • Monday, October 7, 2024 – In Person/By Mail Registration Deadline
  • Monday, October 15, 2024 – Deadline to register to vote through the GeauxVote Online Registration System.
  • Friday, October 18- Tuesday, October 29 – Early Voting
  • Friday, November 1 at 4:30 p.m. – Deadline to request an absentee ballotis (other than military and overseas voters). You can request an absentee ballot online through the Voter Portal or in writing through your Registrar of Voters Office
  • Monday, November 4 at 4:30 p.m. – Deadline for a registrar of voters to receive a voted absentee ball0t (other than military and overseas voters).
  • Tuesday, November 5, 2024 – General Election Day. Polls open 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
