This week marked the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the deadly Supreme Court decision that imposed abortion on the United States.Since then, numerous women have been adversely affected by abortion, and countless babies have lost their lives. The annual March for Life event was held in Washington, D.C., and Concerned Women for America (CWA) marked the anniversary with several events.

On Monday, January 24, 2011, CWA held a webcast featuring prominent pro-life activists and congressmen. The focus was on the importance of protecting life and passing legislation to prohibit taxpayer-funded abortions.Several student groups, volunteers, CWA members, and members of the public were present at the webcast whose theme was Stop Funding Abortion.

In addition, CWAs Project 535 volunteers spent the day lobbying in the House of Representatives.Groups met with legislative staffers and congressmen, urging them to co-sponsor and support H.R. 3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, and other pro-life bills.Project 535 volunteers visited almost 100 offices and received overwhelmingly positive feedback as they asked representatives of the 112th Congress to stand up for the unborn.

CWA members and state leaders saw the profound change in the environment on Capitol Hill since last Novembers elections and were encouraged. Some even described it as a night and day difference from the last Congress. Many congressional staffers shared prayer requests with Project 535 volunteers and asked them to continue to educate the grassroots about the importance of pro-life legislation.

We want to encourage CWA members, whether their congressmen are pro-life or not, to stay in touch with their offices and hold members accountable for their votes on upcoming legislation like the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.
