“Let us not grow weary of doing good,
for in due season we will reap,
if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:9
Praise the Lord! We have already had several successful lobby campaigns this legislative session, and several dangerous bills have died in committee! We believe that your Prayers and Action have made a difference. Look for a comprehensive update next week listing all the dangerous bills you helped stop.
In the meantime, Tuesday, February 17, is “Crossover Day” in the Virginia General Assembly. This is the deadline by which the Virginia House and the Senate must complete action on bills in their own chambers and move them to the opposite chamber.
This week, we need your help to oppose one bill and support one. Please make every effort to join us, and encourage others to join us in both action and prayer on these vital issues.
HAND COUNTING BALLOTS: House Bill 968 (HB968) would change how election results are counted in Virginia by requiring that only ballot scanner machines be used to count machine-readable ballots and preventing those ballots from being hand-counted except as specifically authorized by law.
Why This Matters: Hand counting is an important safeguard in certain situations (e.g., close races, audits). Local election officers would no longer be able to manually verify machine-readable ballots, except where the law specifically permits it, even if circumstances warrant additional review. Elections depend on public confidence in fair and accurate counts; limiting avenues for checks and balances will erode trust in the process.
Position: OPPOSE
Status: Unbelievably, HB968 has already passed through the House committees, passed the full House of Delegates, and is now in the Senate committee on Privileges and Elections.
Action: Email the Senate subcommittee members as a group and ask them to OPPOSE HB968. Simply copy and paste the committee members’ email addresses below into the “Bcc:” field of your email. You can put your own Senator’s address in the “To:” line. Click here to find out who your senator is and how to contact him/her. Be sure to let them know that you are receiving updates from Concerned Women for America of Virginia.

PREGNANCY SUPPORT: House Bill 1428 (HB1428) would establish a website that provides clear information on statewide services and programs for pregnant women, including safe pregnancy and delivery resources. The proposed site would include a portal for visitors to receive tailored pregnancy information and submit feedback. This aims to improve health outcomes by making maternal health resources easier to find for expectant mothers across Virginia.
Why this matters:
Many women — especially in rural areas or with limited access to healthcare — struggle to find comprehensive, accurate information on prenatal care, delivery options, and available programs like nutritional support and prenatal visits. HB1428 would centralize this information in a state-supported portal to help pregnant women make informed decisions, promote early and consistent prenatal care, and support healthier pregnancies and deliveries.
Position: SUPPORT
Status: HB1428 has been assigned to the Health Subcommittee of the House Health and Human Services Committee and is expected to be heard very soon.
Action: Email the subcommittee members as a group and ask them to SUPPORT HB1428. Simply copy and paste the committee members’ email addresses below into the “Bcc:” field of your email. You can put your own Delegate’s address in the “To:” line or the address of the patron, Timothy Griffin [email protected]. Be sure to let the committee members know that you are receiving updates from Concerned Women for America of Virginia.

Please JOIN with us in prayer: Father God, You have made things very clear to us during this Virginia General Assembly Session. There are two distinct paths before our legislators—one that advances good legislation to strengthen families and protect children, and another that would bring harm to our citizens and ultimately wound families across Virginia.
We ask that our legislators would surrender their will to Yours, seek Your wisdom above all else, and walk in humility and truth. We pray for unity within both the House and the Senate in the days ahead and for the courage to do what is right. In Jesus’ name, amen.
