In conjunction with the annual March for Life rally, Concerned Women for America (CWA) is hosting an in-house webcast on Monday, January 24, from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. (Eastern) to discuss the upcoming “No Tax Funding for Abortion Act.”
Currently, lawmakers have to attach pro-life “riders” to legislation to prevent federal funds from financing abortion services. These “riders” have to be renewed each year. The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act would simplify the process and codify an overall, permanent legislative policy of prohibiting federal funds from paying for abortions. In last year’s 111th Congress, the Act had approximately 185 cosponsors. The ultimate goal is to gain more than 218 cosponsors to ensure that the bill passes. The 112th Congress is our opportunity to garner the needed support to pass the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act in the House of Representatives.
Hosting the webcast will be Concerned Women for America CEO Penny Nance and President Wendy Wright. Invited guests from Capitol Hill include Representatives Joe Pitts (R-Pennsylvania), Chris Smith (R-New Jersey), Dan Lipinski (D-Illinois), Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota), Pete Olson (R-Texas), Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (R-Washington), Virginia Foxx (R-North Carolina), and Sue Myrick (R-North Carolina). Special guests will include callers whose lives have been personally impacted by the abortion industry.
