Concerned Women for America of Louisiana is gearing up for the 2011 Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) program, and we need your help. Are you interested in praying for and encouraging our state legislators while they make huge decisions for us this legislative season?
Encourage-A-Legislator is a program which takes 1 Timothy 2:1&2 to heart, remembering that we are exhorted, “First of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” CWA believes prayer is crucial to bringing about revival and restoration to our nation. More than ever prayers of intercession for our legislators are needed and appreciated. One State Representative sent CWA of Louisiana this note:
“Thank you for the words of encouragement. It is a blessing to know that you are taking the time to pray for me. There are many decisions to be made this session and we all need the wisdom of God to know what to do in every situation. I appreciate you and the Concerned Women for America of Louisiana for your efforts.”
The Louisiana Legislature consists of 144 legislators (39 senators and 105 representatives.)
The EAL program asks faithful prayer warriors to:
- 1. Pray daily for their assigned legislators during the legislative session (April 25- June 23), and
- 2. Send encouraging postcards four times during the legislative session.
CWA of Louisiana will provide the postcards; you will just need to add a stamp and make the commitment to pray and encourage. The EAL postcards should be used to encourage only and not to lobby.
It isn’t that time consuming, but it is powerful and effective! Prayer is the most important aspect of everything we do, and our leaders need prayer warriors behind them. If you are interested in praying and providing support and encouragement to our legislators, sign up today and invite your friends, family, and church family to participate.
The deadline for sign-up is April 1, 2011.
