He is Risen!

“But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for
I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for He is
risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” – Matthew 28:25

We rejoice in this Easter season because, in Jesus, we have hope. It’s very clear by just looking around us that everything is not as it should be. Our world is filled with violence, greed, and pride. We look after ourselves and work to destroy anyone who gets in our way, no matter how small they might be.

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” – Romans 5:8. As bad as we are, His goodness outweighs it all. The sacrifice God made in sending His Son to take our punishment on Himself can, if we’ll accept it, erase our guilt before Him. What we celebrate is freedom … freedom from the chains of our own sin.

As we celebrate Easter this year, may we be thankful for Christ’s willingness to pay the terrible price for our sins so we can escape God’s judgment and enter into His Kingdom.  May we rejoice in a living Savior who loves us and is working in us for His good pleasure.  Happy Easter!
