Education Bill in Oklahoma Needs Your Immediate Attention – It’s an Illusion!

“He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” -Daniel 2:21

There is a bill in the Oklahoma Senate Education Committee that needs immediate attention. Your engagement in prayer and action is crucial, as this bill is not as it seems.

HB 1491 will allow any member of the State Board of Education to place an item on the meeting agenda if requested in writing by at least two other members. It passed by a majority vote. Sounds fine, doesn’t it?

Important Note: This bill isn’t appropriate because it doesn’t require changes to be applied to ALL state agency boards and commissions. Moreover, the changes are unreasonable because they are immediate, whereas they should be implemented with the next Department of Education administration.

Bottom line: HB1491 is an around-about way to block Superintendent Ryan Walters from continuing to deliver on his conservative promises. Unfortunately, this bill is not about kids or education; it’s an illusion. It is about stopping good and needed changes.

HB1491 is expected to be voted on in the Senate Education Committee on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Take Action Now: Contact the members of the Senate Education Committee. Respectfully ask them to vote NO on HB 1491. Be sure to let them know that you were informed by Concerned Women for America of Oklahoma about this bill.

Senate Education Committee:

Please Pray: HB1491 does not pass out of the Senate Education Committee. Pray for each Senator by name as you contact them.
