Time is running out for you to express your concerns about the Biden Administration’s proposed changes to Title IX. Go to our Action Center for additional information and to send your comment.
One of our Concerned Women for America (CWA) staff, a former high school and college athlete, wrote about her concerns. We wanted to share her thoughts with you.
“I am in opposition to this proposed rule. Title IX was instituted because people realized the biological fact that male bodies and female bodies are not equal and that in order for women to have a fair and equitable playing field, the two needed to be separated. What a person thinks in their head or feels in their heart does NOT change their biological reality. Allowing biological males to compete in sports specified for females takes away the very same opportunities that Title IX was originally formed to protect (titles, records, scholarships, safety).
“I was a high school and college athlete. We had very strict rules about when our male coaches could be in our locker room and where they could and could not go. With this proposed rule, girls of all ages will no longer be protected from biological males in the room with them as they change clothes. This is unacceptable.
“When I chose to play in a summer basketball league that was predominately male, I was warned repeatedly by my coaches and the referees of the game that I was putting myself in physical danger by participating. They knew the reality. While I dominated the court on my girls’ teams, I was completely dominated by the boys on the court. Our bodies are not equal, and I had the bruises to prove it.
“As athletes, we train hard to be the best that we can possibly be. It would be absolutely devastating to know that you’ve worked this hard for this long to walk out on the court, field, pitch, or track to see a biological male waiting there to steal your dreams. Are coaches going to choose them over you? Absolutely. They are paid to win, and most will take any advantage they can get.
“According to a UCLA study, 0.52% of the population identifies as transgender. According to the 2017-2021 US Census, 50.5% of the population is female. Why are we putting the safety and well-being of 50.5% of the population at risk to cater to less than 1% of the population? It doesn’t make sense.
“Your biological sex is something that is not changeable. Your chromosomes are what they are. You can’t change it by taking testosterone or estradiol. Your muscle mass, lung capacity, height, and build do not change based on your feelings.”

P.S.: Please stand up for girls and women in sports. This rule erases women – it doesn’t empower them as it was intended. Please do not give final approval to this proposed rule. Please make your comment at our Action Center. Thank you!
