Day 4 -Prayer in a Time of Global Distress

Father, we are in a time of global distress;
We are mindful that so many have lost everything:
Jobs, homes, family members.  Everything we hear
On the news frightens us and our children.

Many are driven to their knees and ask, “Why, Lord?”
Many are bewildered with the speed
To which this microscopic organism
Has brought the world economies to ruin.

Many, Lord, have been affected by this virus,
If not in body, then in heart and mind.
You tell believers that we are to be a thankful people.
Help us to remember that You are in control.

Help us remember that everything You do or allow
Is filtered through fingers of Your loving hands
For our good and Your glory.  Make us strong
To minister Your love to a world who needs You.

Grant us awareness of those people
Who need Your loving touch.
Help us to hold forth the saving Word of Life.
Give us patience as we wait in seclusion.

May the stimulus package bring
Relief to those who have lost income.
Grant your peace to parents who now
Must not only work from home,
But educate and comfort their children.

Please bless and guide our President,
The governors, the Coronavirus Task Force.
Bless those corporations who provide medical supplies.
Guide our Congress to work harmoniously for the good of our people.

Thank You Lord for our military
Who has stepped forward to serve.
Grant strength, wisdom, and protection
To those caring for the sick.

Grant success
To those seeking remedies and a vaccine.
Give these all strength, O Lord
In this time of need!

Lord, forgive us and bring spiritual awakening;
Help us to be patient and let You work.
And may we always remember that You
Are good and do good.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray,
Amen
