CWALAC Celebrates Pro-Life Victory in Texas

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Today, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Texas law requiring abortionists to have hospital admittance privileges and abortion clinics to meet the same standards as other outpatient surgical centers.

Concerned Women for America CEO and President Penny Nance made the following remarks about the Appeals Court ruling:

“For too long abortion providers have been providing women with substandard care while claiming that abortions were safe. Finally, in Texas, they will not be able to put profits above the health and well-being of their patients.

“Texas abortionists will no longer be able to give lip service to safety; they will finally be held accountable. Surgical instruments will be properly sterilized, and paramedics will be able to get patients on gurneys in case of emergencies. These standards, which most Americans would have believed to already be in effect, will now be required.

“The 22,000 members of the Concerned Women for America Texas Chapter were instrumental in the bill’s passage and should be proud of their accomplishment. These women stood strong to protect women from these predatory abortion clinics.”
