WASHINGTON, DC –

Concerned Women for America (CWA) mourns the death of Charlie Kirk, conservative leader and founder of Turning Point USA, who was fatally shot as he was speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

“Our hearts are broken by the news of the passing of Charlie Kirk. We take comfort in his beautiful witness to his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we are earnestly praying for his wife and children,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America.

“Charlie Kirk was a gifted leader of the movement for faith, family, and freedom, and tirelessly advocated for these conservative values to young generations. He fought back on behalf of Americans being bullied into silence by radical idealogues. He defended the right to life, confronting the lie that abortion is necessary. He was gracious and willing to seek out and engage those who disagreed with him.

“It is in times like these that we must remember what Charlie believed. In a post just last week, Charlie wrote, ‘Jesus defeated death so you can live.’ These are words that transcend this temporal life. May they continue to echo in America as we mourn this great loss and help heal our nation.

“We urge our country to come together to remember our shared values, as we saw following the 9/11 attacks on our nation. Today, we call for our nation to pray and to recognize the healing that can only come through Jesus Christ,” said Nance.
