WASHINGTON, DC (December 19, 2025) – Concerned Women for America (CWA) commended the Trump Administration’s Health and Human Services (HHS) for announcing actions to  bar federal funding for hospitals performing  sex-rejecting procedures (deceptively  known as “gender-affirming care”) for minors and stop federal Medicaid funds from going to states for such  procedures for minors.

The U.S. House yesterday passed landmark legislation, “Do No Harm in Medicaid Act,” to bar Medicaid funding for sex-rejecting procedures that back up the HHS proposed rulemaking.

“The Trump Administration cares about real science, common sense, and protecting children first. ‘Gender-affirming care’ is neither ‘affirming’ or ‘care’ – it has horribly abused children and left them with lifelong scars and trauma. The Administration is right to confront this deception  that has been foisted upon too many children,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America.

“This news marks a culmination and affirmation of seven years of work at Concerned Women for America in pushing back against the malpractice of ‘gender-affirming care’ and we will not stop until this abusive practice ends.

“We need to be able to support those questioning their gender, to meet them with real mental health counseling, and to tell them they are exactly the way God created them – male or female. We need to stop placating sad, hurt children with lies, drugs, or scalpels,” Nance said.

Concerned Women for America, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization,  is dedicated to promoting Biblical values and Constitutional principles in public policy. More information is available at www.ConcernedWomen.org.
